Albert John Lutuli, známý též jako Luthuli či pod zuluským jménem Mvumbi byl jihoafrický učitel a politik. V letech 1952 až 1967 zastával post prezidenta Afrického národního kongresu, toho času zastřešující organizace, která byla opozicí bělošské minoritní vládě v Jihoafrické republice. V roce 1960 mu byla udělena Nobelova cena míru za jeho roli v nenásilném boji proti apartheidu. Stal se prvním Afričanem a první osobou mimo Evropu a Ameriku, kterému byla udělena Nobelova cena míru. Kontext: ... as a Christian and patriot, [I] could not look on while systematic attempts were made, almost in every department of life, to debase the God-factor in man or to set a limit beyond which the human being in his black form might not strive to serve his Creator to the best of his ability. To remain neutral in a situation where the laws of the land virtually criticized God for having created men of color was the sort of thing I could not, as a Christian, tolerate.
