Profesor Brian Edward Cox je britský částicový fyzik, výzkumný pracovník Královské společnosti , profesor na University of Manchester a držitel Řádu britského imperia. Je členem skupiny pro výzkum částicové fyziky University of Manchester a pracuje na experimentu ATLAS, probíhajícím na Velkém hadronovém urychlovači v CERNu. Podílí se na vývoji a instalaci menších protonových detektorů , které jsou umístěny 420 metrů od bodu srážky částic v rámci experimentů ATLAS a CMS.

Je známý také jako průvodce vědeckými pořady na televizní stanici BBC, čímž zvýšil zájem veřejnosti o astronomii. V 90. letech působil také v oblasti hudby jako člen popové skupiny D:Ream. Wikipedia

And because we're rare, we're valuable. So what are we to do to secure our future? Well, we must learn to value the acquisition of knowledge for its own sake, and not just because it grows our economy or allows us to build better bombs. We must also learn to value the human race and take responsibility for our own survival. Why? Because there's nobody else out there to value us or to look after us.
