Cesar Estrada Chavez byl americký aktivista mexického původu. Angažoval se v zemědělském odborovém hnutí a za práva Latinoameričanů. Patřil k zakladatelům zemědělského odborového hnutí National Farm Workers Association , angažoval se i v celonárodním odborovém hnutí. Bojoval též za práva zvířat, sám byl veganem a na svém statku podporoval ekologické zemědělství. Vedl boj proti antiimigračním kampaním na jihu Spojených států. Po své smrti se stal ikonou hispánského obyvatelstva USA a den jeho smrti - tzv. Cesar Chavez Day - je státním svátkem ve třech státech USA . Wikipedia

He was a tireless crusader for the rights of the poor, for an end to the war in Vietnam long before it was popular to take that stand, and for the rights of workers everywhere.
Many people find it convenient to forget that Martin was murdered while supporting a desperate strike on that tragic day in Memphis, Tennessee. He died while fighting for the rights of sanitation workers.
