John Craig Venter je americký biotechnolog, biochemik, genetik a podnikatel. Je znám jako jeden z prvních lidí, kteří dokázali osekvenovat lidský genom a také jako první biolog, který vytvořil buňku se syntetickým genomem. Založil firmu Celera Genomics a organizaci J.
