Ve svých knihách se zabývá matematikou, kryptografií, filozofií, měnami a historií vědy. Mimo to píše i nebeletristické články o technologii pro různé časopisy, například Wired, a dřív pracoval na částečný úvazek jako poradce pro firmu Blue Origin, která vyvíjí suborbitální kosmickou stanici.
