Frank Lloyd Wright byl jedním z nejvýznamnějších amerických architektů. Narodil jako první dítě Williama Careyho Wrighta a Anny Lloyd Jones-Wrightové. Po studiích na wisconsinské univerzitě v Madisonu odjel Wright v roce 1889 do Chicaga. Zde pracoval nejprve pro Josepha Lymana Silsbeea a později se angažoval v architektonické firmě Adler & Sullivan, až si nakonec v roce 1893 otevřel svou vlastní praxi.
