„Jako člověk mladé rostlinky zprvu ochraňuje a ohrazuje je ploty a ostříhá je od poškození, ale poté, co vyrostou, tyto věci odstraní a vystaví rostliny větru a počasí, tak se Bůh stará o své děti nejprve podpěrami vnitřního utěšování, ale poté je vystavuje bouřím a větrům, neboť jsou již lépe schopni je snášet. „Když vystřelíme šíp, vyhlížíme, že někam spadne, když vyšleme loď na moře, vyhlížíme její návrat, a když zasejeme símě, vyhlížíme sklizeň; a stejně tak, když zasíváme své modlitby skrze Krista v Boží lůno, neměli bychom vyhlížet odpověď a sledovat, jaký máme zdar?
